Dealing with toxicity in the Warframe community...

I've been having some issues with toxicity not only in the Warframe game, but also within it's community outside of the game itself.  To get a better handle on some of these issues, I've decided to back off from a number of those aspects outside of the game.

Details of documented toxicity:

  • Toxicity in the game:
    • The original problem with toxicity in the game was just players idling/AFKing, griefing or leeching (short version, not contributing towards the objective).  While this has become a minor issue that doesn't happen much in missions anymore, it's still fairly common in Free Roam area Bounties.
      • While I used to publish videos showing people that were leeching & use them in griefing reports to DE, I don't really do this much anymore (only in more extreme cases where they don't even move from the start point or sit in a corner the entirety of the mission).  My response to this is usually just to quietly add them to my Ignore list & if severe enough, leave the mission before it's completed (especially if it's a Void Storm that I have a relic in on it).
      • Free Roam areas are where the leeching issue become more often a problem & again, I'm not so much publishing videos, but leaving the team once the next bounty task has started.  This means that since host migration is pretty buggy during bounties, if the host migration doesn't complete (or if they were the only other person in the team; using this term loosely, since they are hardly a part of a team that they are not contributing towards completion of an objective to which they joined) when it happens, their lack of interest in the objective will cause them to fail it's completion (abandoned objective ruling).  They will also be added to my ignore list, provided I can identify where they were (or more accurately, weren't) after I've left the team & completed my Bounty run.
    • The more common matter lately has been that people often times leave a team immediately after I join or if they have joined my team via matchmaking.  If they were going to leech anyway, then all I have to say to it is good riddance, but they are going to get put on my Ignore list regardless (provided I am able to take note of their name, one of the reasons I have rebound the side-wheel function on my mouse as a screenshot button for Gadwin PrintScreen).
    • While pretty rare, the other form of griefing I sometimes run into is after I join a team, the entire team will just throw the match (unless I can manage the increased enemy flow caused by their presence in the mission myself in what turns into an escalated solo run, which usually isn't the case, but can sometimes happen).  These types of wipes typically are what drives me off from the game, searching for something else to play while I de-stress from an escalation of what is already happening in the game (putting my mood in an otherwise dangerously dark state that will only get worse if I don't step away from it).
  • Toxicity on the official Warframe Twitch channel:
    • This is mostly summed up by the community staff themselves...  I've always got the notion that attempts to chat were being ignored & in most cases this is proven correct.  Only in rare cases is there any reply to attempts to chat, it's like finding a needle in a haystack, it's extremely unlikely to happen.  While I understand that chat does move fast & furious through that channel (I don't suspect the meaningless "CLEM!" spam helps any), the lack of acknowledgement puts a SEVERE lack of interest in any attempt to continue that effort...
      • As of the 8/27/2026 Prime Time stream, I made a decision that I was not going to attempt to chat in that channel anymore.  This additionally was paired with the decision not to actually watch them anymore, just to lurk them for drops (when available, I wouldn't lurk if there weren't drops to acquire).  At this point, any presence I may have in this channel is with my badge set to "no sound", quality of the stream dropped as low as possible (manually selected), muting the tab in my browser so I don't have to hear it (and potentially be tempted to try to reply in chat) & collapsing chat into the side of the window so I won't have to see it.  As with other channels that don't acknowledge you in chat (or just have their channel set to a permanent follower, subscriber or emote only chat), I'll also leave as soon as the drops have been acquired (many times heading to the expected streamer to be raided early).
        •  As of 9/23/2026, I made a decision to unfollow the official channel so this would be an extra layer of negating temptation to respond to the stream's content in chat (seeing as the channel is set to follower-only chat).
  • Toxicity on the official Warframe forums:
    • This is a matter that only got worse over time & it seems that the IGNORance has gotten to the point that nobody even sees my posts on there anymore.  I've already filtered out most mental temptation to response to posts on there, but occasionally attempt to try a post to see if there's been any improvement in the situation, only to once again regret the time I wasted in writing the post...  I made one final attempt on 9/30/2026 & ultimately got the results I expected (or rather, didn't get a response or reaction as expected).
      • I've already added details regarding this matter to my profile on those forums, not that I expect anybody is going to look at it, I haven't had a visitor to my profile outside of my own visits since September 5th, even with the new posts & that reaction was to a comment made 2 weeks prior to when the reaction was given.
      • I've also stopped reporting bugs on those forums, since those attempts don't seem to go anywhere & are for the most part a wasted effort...  Those bugs are instead being tracked on this blog for the time being (there is a link to it on the right side of this blog) & will eventually move those details to the review of the game once published to my personal site (no doubt including details about toxicity in the game, as well as community resources outside of the game).
  • Toxicity in the official Warframe Discord server:
    • This one is iffy at best.  Most times if I say anything in there, I don't get a response, but this is the one area of official community resources where I do sometimes get a response & toxicity is at least somewhat minimal (at least as far as I can tell up to this point).  I've considered removing myself from this server (as I've done with other official servers in the past, like the Fortnite & Dauntless servers), but as of yet I don't have enough indication that it's necessary (not like their Twitch channel or their forums).  I still limit my activity on their Discord server because I expect it's just going to go south like every other online resource out there.  It shouldn't be any surprised that I've already disabled the Prime Time text channel (and other stream-specific) channels from visible view on my side so I wouldn't be tempted to deal with them...

I suspect there are other elements outside of the Warframe community itself, like the continued organized attacks from Steam trolls that continued publicly on the Steam website for over 2 years (my online channels, profiles & personal site still remain in a high-alert status until sometime in 2028 because of it & that's provided there aren't any more noticed attacks until it reached the 2-year no attack period I've set before those heightened restrictions will be lowered).  This slander & disinformation spread by them & misinformation channel like CutCafe on YouTube are the reason I don't expect I will EVER get to the 2-year no attack conclusion & is an expected factor that may have bled over into the Warframe community (causing the issues I have in the bulleted points listed above).  Regardless of whether Steam trolls or malicious YouTube channels are playing a part in the results I have detailed in Warframe or not, I still have to look at this as toxicity in the Warframe community, because this is where the documentation of those issues is being done & can only be proven as it's origination for the time being.

I'm still playing the game, this isn't changing & if health permits, I'll be streaming it as well (I need to get more into the habit of this so I will have video documentation of when the toxicity hits in-game).  The only thing that will likely drive me off of the game is if I keep losing stuff I've already gained in the game (this has already happened during the 2026 Dog Days event & later noticed in Bird 3's wares, where the glyphs I had already acquired were revoked) or if my account is banned for some reason.  Keep in mind I keep track of all my invoices, so if it comes down to this, I will also be able to calculate how much money was wasted on the game before it became inaccessible.

Where it goes from here is still in question...  I expect that if Digital Extremes sees what I have placed on my forum profile, they will likely retaliate against it, resulting in a possible forum ban, if not a full account ban (similar to what Genshin Impact did as far as I can tell, however what happened with them still isn't fully clear).  Of course if it comes down to that, there will be a public boycott against DE published to my personal site & that will negate any support for any streamer while they are streaming any game published by DE.  While I'm hoping it won't get down to this point, this isn't my first rodeo & I can usually see where it's going to land before it even gets there, so I'll be making sure to keep documentation of each of these notable situations should it come down to the necessary step to cut off DE entirely & go full-boycott on the company...
